✿ Chick Sticks by Lola ✿

Chick Sticks by Lola is a company located in Oceanside, Ca that builds Surfboards for Girls.  The concept behind Chick Sticks is shorter, wider easier to ride ‘short boards’ designed especially for Girls.  These boards are more than catchy names and beautiful paint jobs, you can learn on these boards and that’s what’s so exciting!!

The ease of getting a short board to the beach and less board in the water to handle when you’re first starting out is as Lola would say, 'Super Awesome'!! All of these boards are 'real' surfboards, not foam!! Start out on these in the whitewash and progress to open face waves.  These boards were created by a Surfer Girl and are so Girl Friendly.  I Love my Chick Sticks and I hope you do too!!

Shred Betty is the newest board in the Line-Up and shaped for the smallest Gromettes.  Little Screamer is a performance Thruster geared toward the Girl who wants to compete or has graduated to the shortest and smallest board in the Chick Sticks line up.  Vixen is a 5-fin option Fish that’s fun and easy to ride.  Hoochie Mod is a modified version of the Hoochie Mama, a thick, wider Mini Egg Thruster that’s so easy to paddle!  Hoochie Mama is a Fun Board that you can progress on and Bad Betty is an amazing 5-fin option 7.0 Mini Long Board with lots of rocker in the nose to prevent pearling.  Ride this as a traditional Long Board with a single longboard fin or start out on this one as a Quad for stability.

Treat Yourself to Malasadas (Hawaiian Style Donuts)....Recipe HERE!!

Oh my gosh, Diet is out the Window LOL I cant wait to try out the recipe for this Tasty Hawaiian Treat!!  Ok, heres the Wikipedia Skinny (no pun intended!) on Malasadas....Malasadas are made of egg-sized balls of dough that are fried in oil and coated with sugar. A popular variation is where they are hand dropped into the oil and people have to guess what they look like. Traditional malasadas contain neither holes nor fillings, but some varieties of malasadas are filled with flavored cream or other fillings. This tradition was taken to Hawaii, where Malasada Day dates back to the days of the sugar plantations of the 19th century.  My Version of what they are....Amazing!!  Check out the Recipe Here!!

My Desk is a Mess!! What a Genius Idea....

Boy, I have REALLY impressed myself this time!!  ;) So simple, so easy but this little change has cleared up desk space and really helped organize all of the things I have going on with my business right now.  My business is expanding and my ideas and projects seem endless.  I have notes and folders and more notes and folders, all over my desk.  Instead of scribbling more ideas, names and phone numbers on the same writing tablet I took brand new note pads and wrote the title of each project (Magazine, Photoshoot, Orders, Website, Movie, etc...) in black marker on the top and they are now stacked on my desk and I can keep everything seperate.  I also started file folders with each of these topics and can toss related info into those to keep everything sorted from now on.  So Simple so Genius!! Ok, time to get on with my Busy Day.  Now where did put my Todays To Do List......LOL

Nuts about Nuts!!

Honestly, Im Nut's about Nut's!!  I keep Roasted or Raw (I prefer Roasted) Unsalted Almonds in a sealed container on my Counter.  Having them on my Counter reminds me to eat them every day and its easy to grab a handful when Im hungry as a quick snack.  Walnuts and Almonds are really high in the Healthy Omega's.  On the other hand a Nut thats seems to get a Bad Rap is the Peanut.  I always thought Peanut Butter was an indulgence and too fattening and I dont like to eat anything thats too far from its original natural state.  When I went from Vegetarian to Vegan I met with a Nutritionist who suggested I try that for a perfect blend of Protein and Carb.  My first question was, 'Isnt that too fattening?'  The answer is NO!!  Healthy Fats are part of a Healthy Diet and the type of Fat makes a huge difference.  I never thought I would be eating Peanut Butter on Whole Grain Toast with a drizzle of Honey every single morning after my Runs.  But Beware, The popular brands of Peanut Butter that you find in the Grocery Stores are loaded with Sugar, Sodium, Preservatives and more junk.  Personally, I will never eat those again!!  I tried several of the expensive Natural, Nothing added Brands in the expensive Healthy Grocery Stores and nothing really stood out.  I was shocked to find that the Kirkland brand of Peanut butter from Costco is Organic and is Lower in Sodium than the (much) more expensive brands.  I Love the consistency and flavor and of course, the price.  I also buy my Bread from Costco they have a Super Healthy non enriched La Brea Bakery Whole Grain that comes Two Big Loaves in a Bag for under Five Bucks.  The combination is Awesome!!  I really do eat this every day and its Super Delish.  :)

Whats YOUR Passion???!!

Its so easy to lose ourselves between work, family and just plain LIFE!!  The weekends coming up.  What a great time this would be to re-evaluate where youre at in your life and ask yourself if you've let the things you enjoy doing slip away.  You dont have to take up skydiving ;) it can be anything youre passionate about.  Working out, taking an art or language class or as simple as celebrating 'Me Time' with a stack of new magazines and a lounge chair in your favorite sunny spot with no interruptions.  Im so busy some days seem like a whirlwind of activity.  So this weekend Im going to prioritize the things in my Life that are important to me and make sure to make time for all the things Im Passionate about and that make my heart happy.  Lets do this together!!  :)

To Juice or Not to Juice.

I seriously LOVE Juicing!!  Every afternoon I get out my Jack LaLanne (Ive always been so impressed by that guy!!) Juicer and Juice some combination of Peaches, Carrots, Apples, Oranges and whatever other Fruit or Veggie is in Season.  Ive experimented with Celery, Kale, Tomatoes and some pretty oddball things but I prefer Sweet over Bitter so I ussually stick with what I know I can commit to drinking every day.  With a juicer you cant put pits thru and citrus peels will make your drink very bitter but theres really not that much slicing, dicing or peeling required and I really look forward to my Healthy Afternoon Drink.  I add a tablespoon of Flax Seed Oil (super healthy Omegas) and a scoop of Protein Powder to my glass and its really Deliscous.  I researched Juicers before I bought mine and Champion makes a good heavy duty one, its a little expensive so I settled on the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer.  And Im so Glad I did.  I bought it from Costco for only $99 and its lasted over a year and a half now.  I Love my Juicer!!

Toe Who??? LOL Dont be Scared of Tofu!!

When I first became a Vegetarian I had no idea where to start when it came to preparing Tofu.  Now I know these tasteless white blocks can be the basis for any meatless meal!!  You can buy Tofu in consistencies from spreadable, soft, firm and extra firm.  A package is ussually under two bucks and offers soy protein in the purest form.  Tofu takes on the flavor of the foods or seasonings you prepare it with.  This is going to sound crazy but I just stir fried (you dont even need a Wok a fry pan will do) carrots and Tofu squares in olive oil, then drizzled Honey and Peanut Butter and a little spray of Braggs Amino Acids (faux soy sauce) on it.  Crazy Yes.  But Amazing.  Experiment a little with Tofu, its low in Calories, Fat and Sodium and almost all the Grocery Stores carry it.

Thanks for your Comments Girls!!  XO

Yes I AM on a Diet but......(haha)

I'm going to Lunch with my Dad today and my first thought I have to admit is, theres goes my Diet!!  Well, Im not going to be a Slave to the Scale.  I Love my Food and it seems like my Family get togethers always center around the Dinner Table or Eating out.  I have a really important Photo Shoot coming up but I decided I am going to enjoy my Lunch today Guilt Free, Yahhh!!  I think the hardest part is to eat healthy and stick to moderate portion sizes before and after the 'Big Splurge'.
